City Sewers
Current Construction
10-Year LA Sewers Program
The Bureau of Engineering is currently managing over 100 sewer design and construction projects throughout Los Angeles. These improvements are being built so that we can continue to provide you, our customers with reliable service.
Sometimes this work goes unnoticed because it often takes place underground. But occasionally, work must be done in streets or alleys near homes or businesses. The City takes care to reduce noise, dust, traffic, and any other potential construction nuisance to a minimum. We also meet with and mail updates to project neighbors before and during construction to get input and give progress reports.
Here are some sewers that are currently being built.
Central Outfall Sewer Rehabilitation Project
The COS is one of the City's biggest and oldest sewers. The section of the COS that is being repaired is 14,400 feet (2.7 miles) long and runs from Parking Lot C at LAX to a point near the intersection of Market St. and Hyde Park Blvd. in Inglewood.
